There are so many misconceptions around the holidays and what it takes to be Naturally Thin during this time. We are surrounded by food that we don’t usually eat, more social gatherings and treats than usual, and so many people believe that the only way to lose weight during the holidays is to restrict and deprive themselves or miss out. This simply isn’t true.
I used to feel so much angst knowing the holidays were coming up and I would fear eating in a way that was out of my control. I would wake up Thanksgiving morning, do an extra hard Jillian Michaels workout, and text my sister to say, “DO NOT let me eat the pecan pie!!!” And then every Thanksgiving, I would leave the party feeling blah. I NEVER left Thanksgiving thinking “wow, that was super fun and I feel incredible.”
But now, everything is different. I go to bed after Thanksgiving, and I feel GREAT. I don’t feel like I missed out on a thing, I don’t do extra workouts, and I definitely don’t restrict myself in any way. And the best part? I actually enjoy the holidays more than ever.
