I’ve talked a little about the concept of instant gratification with food on earlier episodes, but I wanted to dedicate an entire episode to it today, as this is a topic that’s often overlooked.
When you’re dieting, your brain tells you there are two options: restrict and deprive yourself, or simply give in and eat the food, and it’s the latter that provides the instant gratification. But what if I told you there’s a third option, and that’s to not even want to eat the food that doesn’t feel good in your body, yet still receive immediate gratification? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it isn’t!
In this episode, I’m sharing how our brains view overeating as immediate gratification, and how understanding this can help you change the way you think about what you eat. I’m sharing some ways you can learn to allow and satisfy your hunger without overeating, and showing you how to retrain your brain to feel comfortable and enjoy the experience of being in your body.
